Pastor and Head of Staff

Rev. Derek Campbell is a 2004 graduate of Grove City College, and received his Master’s of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 2007. His genuine love of God, God’s Word, and God’s people spurred Derek on to pursue the calling of Minister of Word and Sacrament. He is currently pursuing a Doctorate of Ministry through Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. 

Pastor Derek has co-authored two books with his father, the Rev. Dr. George Van Pelt Campbell — Invitation to the Torah and Loving God & Neighbor: a Guide to Reading, Teaching, and Preaching Deuteronomy.  

Derek and his wife Elizabeth have three teenagers, Elise, Noah and Zoe. In his free time, Derek enjoys practicing Taekwondo, hiking and bird-watching, and having adventures in the city with his family. He also is an avid tea drinker and always has the kettle ready if you stop by his office to chat. 

Church Secretary

Arlene (AJ) Jones began her career at Latrobe Presbyterian Church in 2006 as the Church Secretary. Prior to LPC she worked in banking, manufacturing, and retail. She says that working at LPC has been the most rewarding and fulfilling. Working in a church setting has allowed her to learn more about and practice her faith more strongly. AJ says that her greatest joy is the many loving, caring, and helpful people of LPC who have become lifelong friends.

Minister of Music & Organist

M.A. – Organ Performance, Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  B.M. – Sacred Music, Seton Hill University along with music education studies.   He is a member of: The American Guild of Organists, Presbyterian Association of Musicians, Handbell Musicans of America, (formerly the American Guild of English Handbell Ringers), Choristers Guild and National Pastoral Musicians. As an undergrad at Seton Hill, Michael participated in Symphonic Winds, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers and the Westmoreland Choral Society. He completed a Bachelor degree in Sacred Music, while also pursuing a dual degree in Music Education, graduating magna cum laude. During that time he studied piano with Maria Caruso, M.F.A. and Ed Kuhn, M.F.A. voice with Curt Scheib, D.M.A.and organ with Edgar Highberger, M.F.A.; M.M.Ed. A Master of Arts degree was completed under Carol A. Teti, D.M.A., at IUP where he also studied choral conducting with James Dearing.  The sole focus of his career has been as a church musician, serving as Minister of Music and Organist. He has served several churches including: First Presbyterian Church, Greensburg; Baldwin United Methodist Church, Pittsburgh and The Latrobe Presbyterian Church, Latrobe. In addition to organ master classes and coaching sessions, Mr. Long has participated in many choral ensembles, both national and regional, directed by: Herbert Böck, Brady Allred, Robert Page, Craig Jessop, John Rutter, Timothy Sharp, James Jordan, Constantina Tsolainou, Eric Nelson, Marvin Huls, Sigrid Johnson, Tom Trenney, André Thomas, John Alexander, David Davidson, Sandra Willetts, Dennis Keene, Andrew Shenton and the Berkshire Choral Festival. He has served on the executive board of the Greensburg AGO Chapter as well as Sub-Dean and Dean. In the community he actively supports the arts by serving on various committees of the Greater Latrobe School District’s Art Conservation Trust and Partners in Education Foundation. In addition to serving as Minister of Music and Organist of the Latrobe Presbyterian Church, he is also the Coordinator of Sacred Music Studies and the University Organist at Seton Hill University in Greensburg.

Financial Secretary

Ann Frye has been serving LPC since April 2013 as the financial secretary. Prior to that, she was the church secretary at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Trauger for 20 years. Ann and her husband Ralph have three sons and seven grandchildren. They have operated a dairy farm outside of Pleasant Unity since 1976. In 2020, they stepped back from the operation of the farm and their sons currently own and operate the farm and Creamery of Pleasant Lane Farms. Ann says that serving the congregation of Latrobe Presbyterian Church is an honor and a privilege.

Full Time Custodian

Prior to coming to Latrobe Presbyterian Church, Dina Crystalowski served as a custodian at Saint Vincent College for 12 years. She has served here at LPC for the past five years, and loves her church family. She has one adult son, Danny, who lives in Latrobe and proudly serves as a police officer for Westmoreland County. 

Part Time Custodian

Connie Slivko previously worked at Saint Vincent College for 14 years in food service where she enjoyed interacting with all of the students and faculty. She has worked at LPC for almost three years, and says that she feels so blessed to have been accepted by all. She looks forward to continuing to meet and interact with more of the families. Connie has one daughter who is a Veterinarian at Lakeview Animal Clinic. She got married this past fall and Connie now has a wonderful son-in-law to add to the family.
