Our Church is Rooted in Our History

Latrobe Presbyterian Church

Latrobe Presbyterian Church is grounded in its rich history in this place that dates back to the founding of Unity Chapel in 1774, prior to the establishment of the United States. When the Pennsylvania Railroad established the local depot in Latrobe and that community began to grow, the Unity congregation established Latrobe Presbyterian Church as a mission congregation in 1852.

Unity Cemetery & Chapel

“On March 1, 1774, Robert Hanna, Joseph Irwin, William Lochry and Samuel Sloan purchased these sixty acres for the establishment of a burial ground and a Presbyterian Congregation … Now, for more than two centuries, worshippers here have shared in the early history of Western Pennsylvania and in the much older and fuller history of the whole church of God of which this building reminds us.”
